I need to get a set of pushrods for my engine, and there are just too many choices, so I need some feedback so that I can get the right ones.
First, I am running shaft rockers, so I don't need hardened pushrods.
I may rev it as high as 7,000 rpm, so they should halp maintain stability at that speed.
Length is 7.800". (I think-I may have the geometry wrong, but that's a whole different story.)
Ball ends on both ends.
How important are the following options: tapered pushrods, smaller ends (5/16"), one piece, welded vs. pressed vs. formed tips, hardening, heat treated?
I saw looking at Summit, and everything sounds the same there. I'd shop by price, but I'm not confident that this is a good idea.
For instance, they have a set of 16 Summit tapered chromemoly 3/8" pushrods for $91, or Comp Cams version for $150.
They've also got Proform, Crower, and Trick Flow.
Help!

Since you have shaft rockers you can afford decent pushrods. Run a straight 3/8" pushrod if you have the room for them, both Manley and Comp make .080" wall premium pushrods, as well as a host of other manufacturers. Pushrods aren't a place to save money.

Hi-tech pushrods are our "go-to" model for any serious street application and all solid roller applications. We also use the Manley 4130 pushrods but they are a little tougher to get sometimes from our supplier. (but they are the same thing)

Sounds like you got a real nice valvetrain going. So, I wouldn't skimp on the rods. You could find some chromemoly ones or harden rods(might need guide plates) other than that I'm posting for no reason. You looked in summit so a real good set shouldn't be more than 200.00. I always thought one of the two above w/ball ends and 1-piece shafts would be the best. Don't go cheap and they shouldn't bend.

Somewhere on the Boards somebody recently posted about setting up a deal to get stuff like this cheap from a place that make's them for everybody and then discounting them to us.
Found it!!

You better spend the $100, or so, in the right place. I used Comp Cams Magnum pushrods in my small 355. The Hi-Tech pushrods would be good to use and your money would be well spent.

The Hi-Tech pushrods are listed as being tapered on Summit. Maybe they just mean the ends?

Ask, both places if they can supply what you want...
Or PM the guy in the post and ask him if he is interested in getting what you want from OE Pushrods...
