To make a funny car I use a donor funny car chassis, roof, spoiler, drag shute, and hinge for the body and cut the Camaro body to accept the parts then use super glue first to hold together and then use JB weld for body filler.Sand smooth from 100grit to 400 grit prime, sand and reprime and sand until I get a good finish and then paint. The slicks came off a Matchbox F1 racer.

Yeah im sorry about that, I told my friend to check out this camaro forum I belong too, and he decided to be a ass whipe. However its my fault too for not checking what he was saying. Sorry! I kinda like the orange one though, reminds me of the bat mobile, paint it black.

No problem. Everyone can have an opinion.I also don't ever sign off so anyone could get on from our computer at home and the site would think it was me.The only problem with painting 1/64 scale black is they just don't show detail good. Although when I get the El Camino Camaro done I might go with two tone using black.

Thanks for all the complements.I'm sure the funny car would look better with all the graphics.I know Eastwood used to have a paint pen before for sale that had super fine tips that you could use to put paint in for doing graphics but haven't got a catalog from them lately. Here's a teaser picture of the concept Camaro El Camino so far to let you see some of the early work.I use the Hot Wheels concept body and cut the rear part of the roof and inner body to make room for the bed and rear of the roof thats from a donor MB 70 El Camino. After a reasonable fit I super it and the big gaps I put duct tape behind and fill with JB weld quick set and sand when dry. I try not to keep track of the amount of time it takes cause it's just a hobby.http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d160/62f79/Hot%20Wheels/El-Camaro.jpg

Looks like that chassis will need to be stretched. Have fun! They look great.
My dad told me recently that there is a Hot wheels car modifier guy having him chrome plate some of his creations. They look sweet. he also makes his own 1/64 car trailors.

I've already got the chassis stretched. I cut the chassis in two and put duct tape between the body and chassis and line up the axles and the fill with JB weld and after it sets up grind off excess. Since I use filler on most cars I don't think they could be plated, but if it's all die cast you can strip them and sanding to about 2000 grit and polish and looks just like chrome. I have made some trailer for friends that restore tractors and wanted a trailer for his die cast. I was at Target this morning and notice that Miasto has 4-door pickups with 4-wheel trailers for $6.99 almost bought some just for the trailers. They did have the Chevy Avalance and Mercedes coupes. I'd like to see classic cars on the trailers.

Yes, the JB weld is unplateable by conventional means. And yes the zinc die cast shines up pretty nice on its own, it just isnt durable at all. Ive shined up some of my diecast cars for the fun of it.:D A little hand polishing will bring the shine right back after it dulls. Its pretty soft metal.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d160/62f79/Hot%20Wheels/El-Camaro1.jpg A little more progress, the body and chassis sanded and ready for multiple coats of prime. Probably paint it tomorrow, still not sure on the color.Word for Hot Wheels newsletter today Concept Camaro out in red,67 Camaro mf blue, and 80s Z28 mf gray and Z28 in yellow.

Extremely awsome talent!!!

Do you have to do all of that under a hobby magnify glass? There is no way I could fab up something like that. Don't have the steady hands for it...

When your done with the camino you might take a few pics and send them off to GM. Maybe pitch the "concept el camino" idea!
