i am currently running a 8 inch on my camaro. someone was saying the 6 3/4 would be better. Which one is best to use, i maybe need to change if the 8in willl not clear my new cloyes timing cover. I will drag racing it once and awhile and spin about 6700 at the finish.

thanks
mike

I always thought 8" were better all the SFI stuff seems to be and so is fluid damper...more mass to help tame the harmonic wave?...but I don't know for sure.

You won't notice any ET difference with a smaller harmonic.

I would stick to the 8" IMO.

Chevy put the large balancers on their high performance engines for a reason. The old wifes tale is to run the largest one that will fit.

Like Rustbucket said, you won't notice an ET difference. You will find dedicated race engines running the smallest, and in some cases, no harmonic balancer. You won't see these engines live very long from stop light to stop light.
