OK, so I thought all I was going to have to end up buying for my 70 Camaro was a new rear deck filler panel. Last week, the guy painting my car called and told me we were going to have to strip the whole car because it wasnt primed correctly the last time it was painted. So he wanted to do it right this time. BTW, He didnt paint it the last time, I bought the car in August. Well, then he called and said I needed 2 new fenders, and 2 new dor skins. When he started stripping the paint, He found out the fenders had been patched and the doors had been bondo-ed; BAD!!! So he recommended that we change them. So I picked up the new fenders and door skins, along with my new cowl hood today from NPD. Hopefully he said I should have it back by Valetine's Day. I have pics, I will post later of the progress.

Yeah, I agreed with him. He told me it wasnt so bad he couldnt fix it, but for $380 to replace all of it, it seemed like a no-brainer. I'll just have to put off doing my dash until a later date. I'm just glad it isnt too bad. I hate little stuff thats wrong. I wanna fix everything NOW!!!! HAHAH!!! Im sure noone else here has that problem.

Heck man you got off easy. My car needed new fenders, hood, quarters, tailpanel, outer wheel houses, trunk extensions, and the filler panel above the trunk springs.

Exactly!
Be glad he is doing it right and the new peices don't require much labor. Patching the unibody shell and frame rails is where it gets very time consuming and expensive.

We're looking forward to pics in a few weeks! :D

Yes, He is definately doing it right. I think. I dont know much about body work or I'd be doing it myself. But at least it seems like it should be right. He actually painted a 3rd gen I had when I was 18. That was like 17 years ago. We did a tri-color paint job then and it was awesome, so I knew who was going to paint my 2nd gen when it came time. Im excited to get it back. We are doing a Candy color metallic orange with solid black stripes. Its gonna look great. It should be in primer this weekend. I'll get more pics.

Sorry to hear the news. Getting the body solid and nice paint is the hardest hurdle to overcome in a resto project IMO. Even if you can do all the work yourself, it still takes a couple years and several thousand dollars to complete.

In my experience, 75% of all potential projects you will look at that are in primer have terrible, terrible bodies. Maybe, it's just becaue I live in the NW but there is usually a reason why the car is primered...

Anyway, chin up! And you'll get through it. Besides, its not as much fun if they lift their skirt for you.. :D

Thanks wyntek,
Yeah, I agree. I thought it was a lot more solid than it was. It looked great when I bought it. Im not complaining too much. It just means putting off changing my dash pad and gauges for a little while. Im gonna go ahead and change the intake and carberator, since my has a quadra-junk on it and noone I know knows how to adjust it. Im also gonna put a Hurst V-Matic shifter in it before I get it back. It should be done for Valentine's day. I hope!!!!
