Ok last night we were getting snow and i was out blowing donuts and stuff. I'm a teenager this stuff still amuses me. Anyway i pulled into my driveway and the engine slow lost an idle and just before it stalled it went screeek. Then i started it up again thinking i had screwed the motor and i might as well just roll it out of the way. It started fine then stalled. I started it fine and gave it some gas and drove it out of the way. Then i just let it sit in neutral and it acted fine. I popped the hood and it wasn't knocking. It just sounded normal. Anyway the truck is an 87 dodge dakota 2wd stick. Is there any chance that I bent a pushrod or something like that? Although it does sound pretty normal now.

Any ideas what the screek noise was. I can't get it to do it. Any other thoughts?

It is possible that you simply got some snow blown up onto the fan and alternator belts so they slipped and made the noise.

I'd see what a little time does to it.

I am betting you got some snow on your exhaust and it caused enough steam to get the the inside of the distributor cap wet. Water under the cap causes the sparks to do all kinds of funny stuff. As for the noise? Dunno. Gary could be right.

Ha! Blow up a Dodge small block? NEVER! lol Probably just a snow induced problem, don't worry http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif

Friend of mine had an '86 Dakota with a V6 and it seemed to develop a propensity to have spark plug wires loosen with age and use- check this.

i had an old subaru station wagon with 87 HP! yeah thats right 87! and it was AWD and it did the some of the best donuts. just about anything that will go 20MPH can do donuts even if it is AWD,RWD or FWD. FWD just takes a good E-brake or some talent http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif
