I seem to remmeber this being covered before but the search function didn't turn up much.

I need to drop the gas tank on my 81 Z-28. I know there are two straps that hold it in place, but how do I go about dis-connecting all the lines? I toke a look under there and figured there would be some rubber lines that you could easily disconnect but it comes out of the pickup from the top of the tank and its hard line? Any help would be appreciated!

You are right. Remove the two strap bolts at the rear of the car then lower the tank. You can then access the pickup area which has a big threaded piece holding the lines and sending unit/float. Rap the tab part of that piece to turn it counter-clokwise to unscrew it from the tank. Now remove the sending unit/float from the tank and it is free. Check for other rubber vapor lines too. Different years have different set-ups.

You should be able to disconnect the lines behind the pass. rear wheel, this is where mine had a rubber section between the steel lines. Just disconnect, and drop the tank and small section of lines as a whole.
