In a stock application there is no o-ring anywhere on the distributor shaft. There is a tight fit where the shaft goes through the block in the lifter valley area. It seals off the oil passage that runs AROUND the distributor shaft to get to the pass. side lifter bank.

Some aftermarket distributors come with grooves for an o-rings (MSD comes to mind) but you still don't use the o-rings in a stock application- leave 'em off and stab in the distributor.

No rubber o ring seal at bottom of dist. shaft.

At top of the dist, where it seats on the intake there is a round, thin, flat paper gasket that goes between intake and dist. though.
