$500 for a complete 396 in pieces, and a complete 454 assembled? Both ran about 10 years ago when removed from the vehicles.

$500 for an unassembled 396 AND an assembled 454? Doesn't sound too bad to me.

I "aquired" a 454 block that was a 4 bolt, 1 piece seal earlier this year. One of my buddies wanted one of the autographed John Lingenfelter posters I had, I had two, and he traded me that block for a poster. I had no need for the block, so I took it to a machine shop and they gave me $200 for a bare block! I probably could of got him to give me more, but I just wanted it gone, and he said "Put a price on it".
So basically, I think a COMPLETELY assembled 454, and an unassembled 396 is a good deal at $500. Keep one (454, depending on what exactly it is), and sell the other (396).
