I'm trying to take the pulley off my power steering pump and I can't get it off. I have the bolt on type. I've bent two allen wrenches so far and that bolt wont move.
Am I doing something wrong? Doesn't the bolt just unscrew like any other type of bolt?
Thanks

Specimen, you might try some heat or PB blaster.
Or you could try ripping it off with your bare hands.

Eater is correct, you need a puller to get it off. Autozone should have the tool you need.

puller is needed. I put a 1970 p/s pump (bolt on pulley with keyway) on mine and changed the pulley over to an alum. one.
I had to zip the nut off with an air impact wrench, then I used a 3 jaw puller. The 3 jaw puller bent the pulley pretty bad, but it got it off.
I put the alum. pulley back on, and had to "press" it on by running the nut down with the impact. (used a big thick plastic washer under tap, to keep the tap from digging into the alum. pulley)

So I have to remove the bolt first then rent or buy a puller? Hmm...that chrome summit replacement is looking real good right about now.
