Its on my cousins 4.6 L ford gt. I know it's a FORD, but he wants me to work on his motor to give it some more power, cause he sees what i did to my CHEVY. it's a sohc cam motor, and i was going to put on an intake, port the heads, and maybe put in a cam and roller rockers. anyone ever messed with a sohc motor? is it tricky to take apart, put together, change a cam or rockers? i've only worked on ohv motors, so i was wondering if this is tricky stuff, or if i shouldn't even worry about all of that. anyone have any advice on this topic and how difficult it would be do to this work to it vs a ohv motor?
thanks a lot

I'd have him buy a manual on it b/c I flat know zero about them!!
One that details everything very well as well as hunt up a web site that deals with them..
You know, like this site does SG's...

You need a Stang site for that. Maybe www.corral.net or something like that.

the cam/timing chain is very easy to do,, although,, you'll have to take notice of how the links go on in relation to the gear notches. there is the deal that one cam sprocket has to be rotated backwards slightly,, to get it to line up when the links line up ,, against the valve spring pressure. you'll see. not bad to do though. priming can be fun though. the oil pump is in the front cover. it's all pretty straight forward. the cams are easy to swap,, make sure to keep the cam main caps facing forward and numbered to the journal and head they go to. there is a left head and a right head. application specific for each side. and if i remember correctly,, there is a left side cam,, and a right side cam...... they are different. mark em' somehow so you can keep em organized. same for cam gears. hope it helps.
