I have one on my car but it's awfully loud... how can i fix it to get rid of the automatic fuel pump, I don't much like it...- Eric 02-14-2005, 12:35:00 AM ??? What exactly is an "automatic" fuel pump? Are you talking about a mechanical pump or an electric unit? If you have an electric pump you can just yank it off/out and re-install a stock mechanical pump on the engine. 71sloprime 02-14-2005, 12:43:00 AM ya...sorry had a blonde moment there... electric fuel pump. and where can i get a mechanical pump at ?? Whats the diff between the 2? Eric 02-15-2005, 12:40:00 AM Electric pump sits either in the gas tank or nearby it to suck and then push fuel to carb. You then would need a regulator to reduce the pressure before it gets to carb. A mechanical pump is bolt to the front corner of the engine (i.e. the stock setup) with a pushrod going to a lobe on the camshaft to drive it. Any SBC mechanical pump will do- just see if you need a return line to fuel tank or not. You can get a mechanical pump at any auto parts retailer. If you need the pushrod for it, these can be bought as well. |
