GM building in 4° retard into their late model timing chains for emissions puproses.

For instance, the Comp Cams camshaft I bought is designed to be 4° advanced when the dots are lined up. However, doing this with a GM timing chain set will end up retarding the cam by 4°.

I think they always did??

I have read somewhere that some guys go so far as turn the STOCK, GM crank gear around, re-radius it and then install it to get back what was retarded...

That's one reason to run an aftermarket timing set to me..

Anybody else on this???
