Are the quadrajets from that year the good ones? And are all the 4brl's all 750 cfm's? I heard that they were. Someone is willing to trade me a spare 650vc holley that needs a rebuild for one. He thinks the holleys are better mainly because it's a well known name. I have a 600 on my car now, but I'd like to see how it would run with a 750.

The '69 is probably the best bolt on and go year. It's the one I always ask for at the parts store, and rarely does it need much tweaking.

All the 4 bbl Q-jets can flow at least 750cfm. Some do 800, but those aren't as common since they only came on the 400+ci motors.
BUT, for some cars, GM limited the travel on the rear air door, which cuts it down from 750 to 650cfm. I don't think they were doing this back in '69, but I'm not sure. If your rear air door flaps don't open all the way, just grind the little tab on the side down untill they do to get the full 750cfm.
The one thing with an earlier Q-jet like that is I think it requires a different part number on the metering rods because they are a different length.
Personally I'd go for it. I've done most of the tune-ups on my Q, aside from a full jetting test. It runs wonderfully, car starts easily every time, and the throttle response is just like in an EFI car - no bogs at all.

The 7029207 castings used on the 350/325 hp Vette motors are some of the most desired Q-jets. Here's a good paper on Q-jets:

Thanks for all the info. I'm going to go for it. I don't have a number yet. Hopefully I'll get lucky in that regard, and score one of the sweeter ones.
I can't open that page for some reason, it makes my pc freeze up http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/frown.gif.

I believe that is the stock class racing carb that is required.
