Since this forum is full of people who have experience in so many areas, I thought I would share a problem I'm having. I raced my car for the first time Sunday and was very happy just having the car go straight and make it down the track. Then on my second run, I was doing my burnout and shifted into second and the car just went dead. I finally got I cranked back and backed up into the water, going to try it again, but it died on me again. Anyways, we had it pushed back and had the hood off and the fuel pressure gauge wasnt reading. I got it cranked and loaded it up and went home, an hour and a half drive.
When I got to the house I cranked it up and pulled off the trailer. I got to looking and it had fuel pressure and was running fine. Then the next day my brother and I was trying to find the problem and when I turned on my fuel pump the regulator would start knocking and my brother tapped on it and it stopped for a few seconds. I bought a new gauge, Mr. Gasket 0-15 psi, and put a regulator I found in our storage trailer on and the gauge is not showing pressure and the regulator isnt making any noise, but it is old. I'm going to buy a new regulator, but what would cause this problem I'm having.
I'm sorry for the long story, but maybe it will help.
My fuel system consist of:
5 gal fuel cell
-8 hose
Earls shutoff valve
Holley Blue pump
Earls inline filter before pump
Summit Canister filter after pump
Fuel pressure gauge is located after regulator
