View Full Version : Will a 73 camaro motor and trans work on a 69. wickdracer 02-02-2005, 07:27:00 AM What do I have to remove or add to make this work on a 69 camaro. The tranny should too wayner 02-02-2005, 09:29:00 AM <font face="Arial,Verdana" size="2">Originally posted by badazz81z28: The motor should bolt right into place. Will I need that stuff for the motor to run right or can I just bypass all that stuff and hook up only what I can witht he 69 wiring? Thanks. Manny Gary S 02-02-2005, 10:56:00 AM You shouldn't need any of the emissions stuff. I don't recall any emissions stuff that is electrically controlled on a 73, so the 69 wiring harness should access all the important stuff you need to make it work right. angel71rs 02-02-2005, 01:47:00 PM Make sure and use motor mounts for whatever was originally in the 69. I tried to pop in the original 350 from my 71 in a 69 in place of it's 307. Motor mounts would not go on the frame mounts. Went to the parts store and got 307 motor mounts and it popped right in. gin man 02-02-2005, 09:32:00 PM Assuming 73 had a TCS system, to bypass it, just run the vacuum advance hose from the canister to the manifold port. Also assuming the 73 had an anti-dieseling solenoid, you will need a switched 12 volt source for the solenoid or just try to run without it. wickdracer 02-03-2005, 04:07:00 AM I have the motor mounts from the 69 but it had a 305 in it, will the 305 mounts work for the 350 motor? I believe the 73 car did have a TCS system. So I'll bypass that not sure about the anti-dieseling. Ok I want to get some headers. Do i just order some 69 headers, it does not matter if the motor is a 73 right. Headers bolt on to most 350 motors. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks. angel71rs 02-09-2005, 02:08:00 AM 307 mounts will bolt right up to the 350, but I'd get new ones. Order headers for a 69. A lot of low cost headers work in all 1st & 2nd gen Camaros, plus Chevelles, Novas. wickdracer 02-09-2005, 09:10:00 AM Cool thanks, a couple more questions. The 69 camaro had a 700R4 will the crossmember work for a TH350 or will I have to get a different one. Also can I use the 73 camaro drive shaft on the 69. Manny |
