View Full Version : intake manifold leapenlou 02-08-2005, 05:07:00 PM Can anyone tell me what the difference is in a single plain or duel plain intake manifold Mwilson 02-08-2005, 05:12:00 PM Dual plane the right side of the motor feeds off one side of the carb and the left side the other and the plenum area is smaller, single plane is wide open all eight intake runners go up to one central plenum leapenlou 02-08-2005, 05:19:00 PM With a stock tubro400 and going up one notch in my cam and a 600 eld carb what manifold would you use? Mwilson 02-08-2005, 05:28:00 PM i like the performer RPM on anything but the performer may be better, what torque converter do you have and what is a"notch up" on cam, are there near future plans? what gear ratio? leapenlou 02-08-2005, 05:38:00 PM Stock turbo400 3:42 rear end and the stock lift on my cam now is 450/460 I am thing about a 488/510 lift. I want to run it mainly on the street and once in a wile take up to the track. Mwilson 02-08-2005, 06:13:00 PM 488/510 sounds like a performer RPM cam? more important than lift is duration and LSA you dont want the RPM cam with a stock converter. leapenlou 02-08-2005, 06:43:00 PM According to this web site the duration on my 450/460 cam is 346/361 (i/e) I don’t know what i/e means but anyway the rpm cam’s duration is 234/244. Mwilson 02-08-2005, 07:25:00 PM better check your duration again! that RPM cam needs about a 2800 stall min. you'd do better with a comp 268 [This message has been edited by Mwilson (edited February 08, 2005).] leapenlou 02-08-2005, 08:45:00 PM Thank's I have to get more info on my cam sikzdrivr 02-08-2005, 09:19:00 PM Both of those intakes will work good on the street. But your throttle response may not be as crisp with the rpm. And the performer will start running out of breath sooner than the rpm, after 5500 or so. I'd go with the rpm in your case, since your car will see some track time. I'm no expert, but you should gather up as much info as you can on your car, so people can help you choose a cam. That will help to get you the most bang for your buck. Do you know what heads you have? Oh yea, i stands for intake, and e for exaust. |
