I'm completely open to any and all suggestions. 355, flattops, high energy .440/.440, headers, air gap, 50k volt coil.
I had a set of cheap "8mm" wires w/ 90 degree boots from checker and some autolite plugs. Plug wires don't look like 8mm to me! I'm already having problems with the boots touching the headers, so I was thinking of those Accel header plugs to gain some clearance. I'm running the wires over the valve covers. For wires I'm thinking of the MSD 8.5mm wires, but I've also heard good things about Taylor wires.
Open to suggestions/opinions on what kind of wire seprators also.
Will you help me out? I'd certainly appreciate it.
Nate

Meaning what exactly??
1WILDZ - that's pretty much what I want. What kind of seperators are you using??
Any ideas on plugs?? I have the $89 specials (Dynomax Blackjack) 1 5/8". Just looking forward to not burning any more wires (hopefully)

Here they are, R&M Specialties from Summit Racing. I had to hone them out with a drill bit to fit the 10.4mm wires.

Nate,
Just as an FYI, don’t expect the ‘header plugs’ to be a magic bullet and the salvation to all your clearance problems. I put a new motor in the street rod a couple of years ago, and ran into clearance problems with the new angle plug heads the old motor did not have. I talked to the engine builder and he said to get the ‘peanut plugs’ and all would be well. I took a run to the local speed shop, told him what I needed and when the counter guy brought out the plug, I thought he had picked up the wrong box. I was expecting something similar to a chain-saw or lawn mower plug. The plug is only about ½ inch shorter, and I could not see the difference until I had a stock plug side by side for comparison. Imho, I think having a special header plug is more of a marketing tool by Accel to sell more spark plugs than anything else.
I ended up mixing and matching 90 degree and straight plug end wires (after getting a new set of headers) to find the desired clearance. Of course, I had an old set of straight boot wires lying around, but you may want to try this route. Perhaps you can buy boots, plug ends, wires individually and make your own custom set. You could also try the plug wire shields that most wire companies have available, but I have no experience with any of them.
As for wires, I like Moroso. I have the steel core on the camaro with a Unilite ignition, and the spiral core radio suppression on the street rod with an Accell HEI. Both work well, and I have no RF problems with either. AC R43TS plugs have always worked well for me. Good luck.

warped - thanks buddy. Lots of info in your post!
I'm pretty sure on the wire seperators that 1WILDZ uses. Looks like a really nice, clean set up. I'm still debating on what kind of plugs/wires to use though. I think I'm gonna invest in a set of wire shields. I'd hate to spend X amount of dollars on a good set of wires, just to have them burn up on the headers.
I'm not worried about the $$ part of it, just wanna get what's best.
