What is the biggest cam and carb setup you could use on a 1973 Z/28 without changing the heads.

probebly a .500 or .510 max lift...

That is a 9.0 compression motor, so I'd go for a Powermax 272. The Qjet that should be on it is a 750 so that should be enough unless you prefer a Holley.

Yes they are easier to tune and get a tad better mileage.

The only thing with the Edelbrock carbs is that some of them are shipped from the factory with too high of a float level and the engine will sputter going around sharp turns. The Edelbrock website explains how to fix it. Basically you lower the float level a bit http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif

Do the Holley! You'll be glad in the long run.

Holley or Edelbrock that is the Question, the thing is I live up north and the car sits over the winter and the Holley I have on now always needs tuning in the spring unless they make them better now mine is 25 years old

edelbrocks are slightly harder to tune than a holley but hold the tune ALOT longer. i had a 600 on my mustang.. it sat from november to sometime in march(nov 2003-mar 2004) and didnt need adjusted or nothing.. and it started RIGHT UP.. a holley you need to tune every once in a while...

if interested i stll have my 750 edelbrock forsale $175.. has electric choke. used 35miles
