I have a '79 camaro I just built a 350 and droppped it with an Edelbrock 650 manual choke on it about 6 months ago. It has run great and a little rich but problem free up untill recently. It started to puff a lil gray smoke in the mornings at start up that smelled very rich. Then one morning I started up and after about 2 min of driving started bellowing out gray smoke and reeking of unburnt fuel. I have checked the floats and accel. pump and everything seems to be in great running condition. But after a couple minutes of running it just starts getting far too rich. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Bluish-grey smoke is oil. Fuel is black smoke. You sure it's a carb issue?

Carbs rarely just "go bad" all of a sudden unless you're getting dirt past your fuel filter.

check the float needle to make sure it's not worn real bad where it seats against the needle seat. And also check the two small air pipes that are beside the two needle covers on top of the carb. I have had them get plugged and that will do that

I've heard of Edelbrocks cracking from thermal stresses. Can anyone back that up?

I had the same sort of problem on a auto car here in OZ and it was the diaphragm in the modulator valve on the back of the trans. The car would run fine for a while then the grey smoke would start. Just a thought................ò¿ó¬...........

had a case where they put speed bump in at work, only like 12" wide.
unless i went over it at a very slow pace, like holding everyone up it bent metering rods and flooded fuel out every where.
