Mine's a plain jane '70.
Only thing special about it is the early production date (01A) & low production sequence # (00030).
Other than that, it's nothing special.
I just completed a two and a half year resto on it, now it's my daily driver.
I am proud of it because I've done all the work on it, so I'm quick to show off pics.

Mine is a 1973 RS, the wheels at the moment are Vintage Wheelworks V45:s
with 245-45/17 tires, suspension and shocks is updated and uses red konis
and 1979 Z-28 spec parts. I'd like to do more but might get another Camaro
in worse shape and modify it instead since this is actually rather untouched, time will tell.

Was originally SS350 -- is now packing a 406. TH350 which I hate.. and am considering options on the front end. I very much prefer split bumper.. but, am up in the air about full convert or just adding the small bumpers to the stock front end.

I have a 72 ss 350 4 speed. Mulsane blue black interior. all original matching numbers. I am a senior in high school, and i am restoring it over the winter before i go to colledge. I have already got the body stripped down to bare metal and have all my sheetmetal. I did some trade off labor for the shop i work at, and now he is going to do body work for me and paint my car. All i have to do is get it ready for him to work on. I hope to have it done by summer.

Man, we have some really nice 70-73's on this board!

Mine started life as simply 71 sport coupe, 2bbl 350, with a TH350 trans. The only thing "special" about mine was that it was ordered with the trailering rear axle which had 3.42's. There was only 130 of that option sold in that year.

But, here's what it is now...

I have a 1971 Z/28 RS. It had only 44,000 miles on it when I got it off the second owner 10 years ago. It's very original except for one repaint. It has several options including black deluxe int., tilt column and adjustable seat back on the drivers side. It gets driven about 1000 miles a season. I also have a '71 SS 396 in need of complete restoration for my son.

70 SS, L34 car. Had a small block/auto when I bought it. Now sports a 502 RamJet/Tremec TKO600...much better combo. ;) I'm about 85% done on a complete resto-mod.

Had the paint and body done while I was deployed a couple of months ago, but need to get it all re-done...:( the place I brought it to turned out to be a real joke. The owner talked up a GREAT story, but that's all it turned out to be.

Mine is a 1970 Camaro. Hugger Orange with Black Rally Stripes. Original 307 engine. I am the third owner. In pretty good shape when I bought it almost two years ago. We put a paint job on it and rally wheels and tires. I put some shocks on the back because I didnt like the rubbing of the tires. Just drive it to work once or twice a week. Need to eventually get a heater put in!

My first was a white 72 Z28 I bought in 1979...I've had my second 72 Z283167 since 1989--was black with Cragars and beat up...brought it back to life -painted her silver and stock Z wheels with the rears widened to 8"; put in a 12 bolt...recently I got a new urethane bumper and chrome surround and picked up the Hooker sidemount headers and sidepipes --so their next to go on; although I really like the way the 1 3/4" Hooker SuperCompetitions into the Flowmaster w/turndowns sound. Might get a L88 hood to replace the cowl induction---go for the 70's retro look.

I haven't touched paint or body work yet. Notice in the first picture how "saggy" she was. New rear leaf springs, new Edelbrock Classics all around, new tie rods, idler arms and center link, new GM Performance 350 HO Deluxe crate engine, full set of Cobalt gauges, new seat upholstery and carpet, Blaupunkt Seattle head unit, 2 Infinity 6 X 9's in the rear shelf. Getting this winter - new heater core and blower motor, new dash pad from Just Dashes, 2-4" Infilities up front in the old speaker bracket, and a new 3.73 posi rear.

70 RS - can't prove if it's an original or not, don't really care because... 454, M21, 10 bolt with 4.11's - not original engince (obviously), not original trans, not original rear, and definitely not the original interior. Bought it in summer of 04 and just now getting to find out what exactly has been done with it... was told it ran low 11's, but has compression problem in #3.

Completed trans rebuild in 8/06, 1/2 way through re-wire (need money for new gauges and redoing dash, etc), and waiting engine rebuid.

My cruiser is 1971, originally 6 cyl car. Had a350 when I got it. after ripping the rear floor pans from the body, I decided to make it into the car I dreamed about when I was 16 (the same year the 70 body style was introduced). Without going into alot of techninal stuff, I can tell you it now has destroked 454 (427 bored .030) tunnel ram dualquad,4 spd,3:55 BOP posi.,black/black and is definitely not for the purist.
other cars include 1978 Z28, 1971 Z28/ SS project car( not for the weak hearted) and a 1970 chevelle project for my wife ( SS/LS5 clone)

Hi guys... not sure if there are any other women present on this list :bowtie:

My husband just gifted me with a 71 Z28 !

I am not a 1st time Camaro owner - had a lovely 68 (327/350/3:23) a few years ago... let her go to a good home and regreted it ever since

anyhow - I am a new mom , a gearhead since practically birth ( raised with a 71 Chevelle LS6 & 69 GTO ) and am hoping to plant the seed of classic Chevy's in my infant son !
We also own an '05 Corvette.. my husband owns a boat shop down here and we are also active in SBI/APBA Offshore Powerboat racing.

my new toy has lots of goodies :
355, all the right performance parts and 4:10 gears. I can't wait to get her tuned and purring so I can take a trip to the track and get a time slip on her. .. I was told it should run 11's.

the only thing major I want to add is modern disc brakes all'round:eek:

car is mulsanne blue with black interior and black stripes. was originally green/green...

no great pics of the car yet - just got her a few days ago and have her at our shop doing some tweaking...

hope to learn interesting stuff on this forum.. I loved looking at everyones pics - there are some beautiful cars out there.

Wish we could have made it to the show this weekend in Orlando...

Nah, there's several gals on here - but we are by far in the minority. Fawn, Alise, CamaroDiva, Camaro Bunny, mpozzi - come to mind for starters.

In order to post a pic in the body of your post, they have to be hosted somewhere on the web. I use Cardomain, a few other options are ImageShack and PhotoBucket. Open an account and upload your pics to your account there.

When you want to put a pic in your post, click on the pic icon (the yellow thing with the mountains on it, lol) and paste the URL of where your photo is hosted.

kinda lost touch with the cars the past few years.

my car isn't ready to cruise just yet - hubby is working on some electrical glitches today - got a few other things to do too - but hopefully really soon !!!

3370 ... still needs final paint, but all the "hard" work is done  Frame off resto w/frame, diff, driveshaft painted medium mettalic blue. Bottom of body, tank, engine compartment painted white base/clear. Rebuilt 350, cam, intake, carb, gear drive, flowmaster 17104 exhaust, super T-10 that was powder coated blue, 81 T/A 4 wheel disc, Koni's, black interior stock other than seats and guages, 17" wheels, goodmark hood... the car blew me away when it was appraised... i was thinkin , maybe $10 - 15,000. The appraiser said $27,500 (candian) ... and when it's finally finished, $35 - 40,000 (canadian, which would be about $28 - 33,000 US)  don't know if i could ever sell it for that, but it did turn into kind of a fun "invesment"

LOL lol... i'm painting my own car... everytime i let someone else touch it, they screw it up:screwup: I let some body else tack on my full gm quarters, cuz they said they knew what they were doing - the left side ended up 3/8" to close to the front... luckily, i checked all the panel alignment's - had to un-tack it, and rewelded it myself...since then, i've done "everything" myself. I had an 81 Z-28 that my brother painted charcoal mettalic, with chrome cragers, 8's w/235's on front and 9's w/265's on rear... the car was "wicked" lookin. it did'nt show all the dust and dirt like black does, but the car has to be super straight... it show's flaw's just like black does. hope to see some pics soon.

wicked lookin car... any problems i've had with electrical is usually a ground issue... check them all... probably more than one for the rear wiring harness.
We have gotten as far as figuring out that it is the turn signal wiring in the steering column - the switch is broken and if you jiggle it the signals work but it must be shorting out the brake lights - the tail lights work just not the brake lights...
well they are working for now - we;ll see how that lasts HAHAHA

Danny ( hubby ) will probably replace the wiring harnesses anyhow just to keep from having issues with things - but he managed to get pretty much everything working right

It's a real-deal Norwood Z-27 LS-3 car. I have all the correct engine bay parts now including the hot air assembly, air cleaner, NOS carb etc...and it'll all get detailed out when I freshed the 402. Looking for 400HP with some internal mods but total stock exterior. Amazing what Chevy did to make these cars so slow. My small block Corvette drops the Camaro like a bad habit.

I have a 1970 Camaro Rally Sport "project car"

http://inlinethumb64.webshots.com/127/2185249730090944223S425x425Q85.jpg (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2185249730090944223hdztYI)

I've had the car since before I had a license. My Uncle gave it to me in 1983. In my youthful enthusiasm i took it all apart....and it hasn't been put all back together to this day.

I've collected lots of parts over the years and currently have just about everything required to complete a thorough restoration, except upholstery.

It has been kept indoors all those years (yikes, 24 years ???) Someday, I'll finish it!

I have a 71 Sport Coupe 307/350, bought it in 2001 with 87,000 original miles for $700. The guy told me his friend tried to tune it up and it wouldn't start. His wife made him get rid of the car so she could remodel their home. Couldn't miss out on this. Had my friend tow it to my shop, and in 15 minutes we were driving it. Gave it to my daughter to drive, some moron did a u-turn right in front of her, insurance totalled the car gave me $4500 for it and sold me the salvage back for $152! Took about $500 to get it back on the road. Last Feb I put in a 350/290hp GM crate motor, Edelbrock, Holley & headers.
Getting ready to paint it pretty soon, Placer Gold with black stripes.

Screamin yellow!!!

So many beautiful cars posted here. The simplicity of this design is just awesome.

I remember many years back Car and Driver did a special issue on the most beautiful cars of all time. The 2nd gen F-Bodies came in second right behind the 1961-1963 Jaguar E-Type roadster. That is pretty impressive. I think C&D got it right.

There sure are some awesome looking cars on this site, I'm glad I ran across it.

Thanks for the kind words, obviously I was more interested in going fast & running 8's than finishing the body & paint work.

I have a 71 SS396 that Im in the process of a frame off resto. I purchased it 17 years ago drove it alot. Then swapped drivetrains about a dozen times and settled on an 800HP 540 TH400 12 bolt 4.56s with a spool. I drag raced it for about 4 years and decided it was time for a resto. With some help from a few friends the body is being completely restored with NOS sheet metal that I have been accumulating since I bought the car. In the mean time my wife's 81 Z28 350 TH400 3.42 posi is still on the road, which helps because I miss mine so much! Its been a long 2 years so far on the resto. Hope to post some pics soon. thanks

Great lookin rides!! It gives me inspiration for my 70 RS Z28 PROJECT that I pulled out of the weeds in a back 40 down in Arkansas. The original drive train is gone (go figure), but I will start to piece it back together. I will put in a 400 for now until I can find an original LS1. Wish me luck with this one.

Still has all the original deluxe RS interior, minus the steering wheel (ouch).

Just happy to be able to save one. Funny thing is, several people passed up on it, probably because they didnt know what it was since it is an LA car. Gas pedal is hinged on the floor and the rear bumper has the holes for the bumperettes, front discs,... Guess that wasnt enough for them.

I will need alot of encouragment so keep the pics and stories coming.:)

HELLO THERE, NDNBOB HERE. I HAVE A QUESTION FOR SOMEONE WITH A LOT MORE SENSE OR KNOWLEDGE THAN ME. I HAVE A FRIEND WITH A 1970 Z-28 WITH A Z-27 RPO. CANT BE TOO MANY OF THESE EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT.DOWN TO THE PEDAL. hOW MANY 1970 Z-28'S HAVE YOU SEEN WITH AIR CONDITIONING? WHO SPECIAL ORDERED THESE? NICKLE? BERGENS?YENKO?

A/C wasn't an option on the Z28 until 1973. You could however, get AC on a Z-27 equipped Camaro in 1970 though.

Personally, I've never seen a 70 Z28/SS (Z-27). That combo wasn't offered by GM.

Air-conditioner was NOT available in 1970 with the z-28 package a combo of z-27 & z-28 not either....sorry. I tried as a special order through Don Yenko and through three other dealers. Even had some contacts in GM at the time they said that the compressor would not handle the potential rpms..... no luck. They did convince me into the wide ratio 4 speed for the street.

If anyone ever runs across 124870N531881 I have the protecto plate, bill of sale, build sheet and other papers.

Funny how they did build some LT1 Vettes with A/C though. I was working for a guy back in 1972 that was able to order a 1972 LT1 Vette with factory A/C. I used to see them for sale occasionally in Hemmings. Back on topic though. Here are some pics of my 72 SS. It's going to be for sale soon. Give me an idea of what I could get out of it.

Z27,
There was considerable difference between a 1970 Z28 a 71,72 Z28 LT1 engine.
The 70 was the last year for high compression at 11.0: 1, resulting in 360 hp (gross) probably more realistic 385 for a “good engine”. In 1971 flat top pistons and a change in heads dropped the compression to 9.0: 1 dropping the hp to a realistic 330hp (gross) 275hp (net). 1972 saw a further change in the heads, but still maintaining the 9.0: 1 compression ratio dropping horsepower to a 255 (net). The factory red line on the 70 was 6500. Pulling 7000 to 7500 was no problem. In 1972 the redline was 6500 but actually seeing it was more difficult and much less fruitful.
Year HP@ RPM Redline
1970 360@6000 6500
1971 330@5600 6500
1972 315@5600 6500 (estimated gross hp)

Here is a note from a website on 1972 Corvette specifications http://www.alarid.com/history/specs/72.htm

‘FIBERGLASS FACT: This was the only year air conditioning was available with the LT1 engine and since only 240 were so equipped, this combination is a rare find today.’

Z27 you are correct on your friends 72 LT1 with air.

Regards
Paul

Only thing original in the drivetrain in the TH350 transmission. The motor started as a 1980 Targer Master engine. It is completely rebuilt with forged pistons. I put 1492 64cc heads on it, a small crane cam, 1972 Z28 intake, carb, air cleaner and valve covers. The cam is just a little bigger than a stock cam so it idles like stock. Other things not correct for a 72 are the short spoiler and the Z28 wheels and tires. I bought a rear end at a swap meet that was supposed to be a 3.42 posi out of a SS that turned out to be a 3.23 posi out of a Pontiac, I believe. Just about everything else is correct for a 72 SS. Even the cloth upholstery. Paid a bunch for that. The color is GM 1990-91 Dark Saphire Blue Metalic. The exhaust is complete NOS system. I spent 3 years restoring it from 1989-1991 so it is a pretty old restoration, but have only put about 500 miles on it since. You could still buy a lot of parts for them at the Chevy Dealer back then too. I've just lost interest in it so it mainly just sits and collects dust. I was thinking it might bring somewhere around 20K.

I also have a 71 SS 350 4 spd with A/C car that is not too picture worthy and needs to be restored. It is a complete 100% original 70K mile car with the exception of it has a CE warranty replacement block that was installed when the car was just a few months old back in 1971. I have the original window sticker, build sheet, and brochure with the original selling Chevy Dealer's stamp on it. I bought about $5000 worth of NOS parts to restore it back in the early 90s that are in my attic just waiting for me to get motivated to do it. It was a good running car until the clutch PP broke in 1996 and it's been parked ever since.

Been 6 years complete frame-off restoration with all new wire harness, suspension, soon-to-be-brakes, headers w/ flowmaster, mallory ignition.

71 Camaro RS (clone).

According to most, a "real" RS must come from the factory that way. But from what I understand the RS was an option available on any model. My 71 (that I bought in 93 - loooong story) was originally a plane jane rust bucket, but I've since swapped everything with all original RS parts (short the aftermarket fiberglass nose - had an original, but it took less work to get fiberglass one looking great). I've now got everything a factory RS would have - probably as close as anyone can get to "real" without being facotry. But as you can see from my CarDomain link below, I never was much of a 'factory' kind of guy ;)

And off course thousand other little things.

The Kumho's suck, no grip at all;)

I've got a 71 RS Sport Coupe - has a 427. M-21, and 12 bolt rear (not sure of the gears). I bought it last summer to replace the 71 SS 350 that I had since the mid 80's (actually my first car I bought in high school) - it was totally rusted and needed more work than I could afford. The replacement I found is not an SS or a Z (but was priced well and it runs like a mother) but I plan to either clone it as an ss396 or just repaint it yellow like my original one was.

Just entered the Camaro world. Picked up a 71 plain Carmaro with a 350, 4 speed, 3.08:1 posi, all came original in the car. Has A/C and factory tach. Motor looks completely stock, right down to the cast iron exhaust manifolds and clutch fan. Someone along the line started to convert the interior over to black so there are a few interior pieces missing. Car runs and drives, but needs a little help in some areas.
