Brown`77Z28 01-12-2007, 06:03:39 PM So again a stroker kit question, which one should I choose????

am I missing something because I don`t really see a difference
I`m gonna build an engine with one of these kits so please advise which one to choose .
BTW what do they mean by piston head volume -5.00 cc??????
I want this to become an engine for normal street use is this the right kit for it????????
Will this kit fit my 1990 350 engine without problems or must I grind several area`s in the block and what about the oil pan ????? and what about the cam will it clear or do I need a small base circle cam??????
A lot of questions ,so any comment is more than welcome :) :)
Thanx in advance
Rene
Brown`77Z28 01-12-2007, 06:11:44 PM OK after a bit better reading I`ve noticed that the cheaper one has a pioneer damperand flexplate and the other one only a flexplate and no damper.
beats me why
dustypowers 01-12-2007, 06:12:52 PM they look pretty similar to me any cost difference
Brown`77Z28 01-12-2007, 06:14:59 PM Yep that`s the reason why I ask because I don`t really see a difference other than the damper.

that is probaly the only difference i would go 4 the more complete one
Brown`77Z28 01-12-2007, 06:18:58 PM Yeah that was my idea too, say Dusty do you have any experience with those kits???????
dustypowers 01-12-2007, 06:20:48 PM what do u mean by experience their not much to them what do u want to know
Brown`77Z28 01-12-2007, 06:22:42 PM Mainly the quality, because it`s pretty cheap for a complete rotating assembly.

We do these conversions all the time in what we refer to as the "new style" 350's, pre vortec one piece seal engines. You will need the dampner since it's an external balanced assembly (should be a 400 dampner) but the flywheel you have will already have the counterweight. Is there a local shop that can balance the engine for you? If so, you only need the pistons, 400 harmonic, and crankshaft. Your stock rods are fine, and you can reuse your current flywheel. Your rods will need to be clearanced, as will your block. Do not buy flat top pistons for a 383 if you're running the 1990 heads as they are 64ish cc chambers and you don't want/need 10.7:1 compression. We always use dished pistons unless it's a race application, at which point we internal balance, use forged pistons, and better rods. There is nothing wrong with hypereutectic pistons, they are used in a lot of factory engines these days.
Now if you're looking to build a high RPM engine, use nitrous, or just plan to abuse the hell out of it evey time you turn the key then you need better parts, but for your average 350 HP buildup the parts I listed are all you will ever need. Oh, and your stock pan will work fine.

Brown`77Z28 01-14-2007, 08:20:15 AM Thanx Rustbucket,
These sets come complete with rods and everything so I don`t have to grind anything ????????????? not even the block itself????????
73Z 01-14-2007, 10:12:28 AM Just to let everyone know, I am still giving Nastyz28.com memebers $100 off all Eagle rotating assemblies that I sell. Check out hiperperformance.com for prices.
Thanks

If the supplied rods are stock appearing then yes you still need to grind the rods, and you will certainly need to grind on the block.
