View Full Version : Your engine pics?? Please post!
cadmanmeg 01-12-2007, 03:21:14 AM Am trying to get more and more ideas on how I want my engine to look. Want to go for some chrome, black, and some color, probably blue.
So I was curious if many of you could post pics of your engine bays?
Would much appreciate it! Thanks!

Ok, I have a stupid question.
How in the hell do you see around the blower? I have a three inch cowl hood, and there is no way I could see the right side of the car over the hood of a six inch cowl or blower.
That's a bad ass engine, though.

Actually it's closer to 11 inches, I have a 4" cowl on it. It will never be an everyday driver, just a weekend toy. Hoping the locals don't hassle me too much, but I expect I will get the occasion obstruction citation if I run across one in the right mood. I'll even support the local police retirement fund if that's what it takes.

Brian Callahan 01-14-2007, 12:25:45 AM cadmanmeg, maybe you can get some ideas from these pictures.
http://brian-callahan.com/Brians%20stuff/Camaro-pix/engine/496-w-heads-and-valvecovers-inside.jpg
We chose to paint the fenderwells and the engine compartment a color and a flatness that made them disappear and let the engine stand out. Other guys do the opposite to make a "cleaner" look instead. Think about which you prefer.

http://brian-callahan.com/Brians%20stuff/Camaro-pix/Body/Completed_Car/Engine-syncronizer.JPG
Engine color is Matador Red, the same as the body. Valve covers are crinkle black powdercoat. The centers of the wheels on the car have the same powdercoat as the valve covers. We went with a red-black-silver theme in the engine compartment to compliment the rest of the car.

im in the same situation as Miller52, i just turn 16 last week and im a sophmore in high school and i have almost no money to spend on my car, im just finishing my header installation and true dual exhaust which should be done by monday :bowtie: and that took all my money for now... i need a job this summer...

74RAT 01-15-2007, 10:37:09 AM bandit racer,, you can find those master cylinder/brake boosters in 78-81 cutlass's, regal' s,malibu's, etc.... i think the line fittings are metric,, so you'll have to re-flare the tubing with metric ends,, or adapt them if so. hope it helps.

BlueCamaro 01-21-2007, 09:54:16 PM Nice setups guys!
Makes me debate what color combo of engine and engine bay when I get Barry (my 1979 Camaro.. yes... he's a HE) painted bright blue.
I was thinking getting the 406 block painted black and painting the bay Bright Blue like the body. Any suggestions?
78LT383 01-21-2007, 10:46:02 PM My suggestion: Consider powder coating the block. Color is your personal choice, but consider powder coating the block.
It would be really nice to be able to blast away at it with a high pressure hose without the fear of big flakes of paint coming off. I wish I had thought of it before I had my block filled with hard blok. It was too late before the idea occurred to me.

Thanks... Its tight but it wasnt to bad my headers hit the cross shaft bolts so I'm going to have to shorten them other than that it fit real good.

Took her to the track once with about 1000 miles on her and got in 2 runs before I was booted off.
10.97 @ 126
Dropped the tire pressure down to 18lbs that's it. I'm sure if I could have done some tuning that day I could have pulled a mid 10.
All motor, pump gas, full nterior, A/C.
Tokyo Torquer3 01-24-2007, 12:47:50 AM That's great Scott. Was that with the TKO? I am having a heck of a time with traction on my set up, that is why I asked. You seemedto do OK, but I wish I had an automatic at the track.
What was your 60 foot? what are you running for rear gears and what tires did you run at the track. what is your car weight with you in it?

I have:
TKO-600 with a 3.42 Eaton posi
adjustable rear shocks
QA1 adjustable front coil overs
MT ET Street Radials
welded sub frame connectors
SSM lift bars
3600lbs with me in it
Practicing on a back street on launches I found it better not to pop the clutch. I only bring it to 3000rpm and quickly/gradually release the clutch. Although sometimes I get a little too happy with 2nd and 3rd and she'll spin - but I'm working on my control.
