ChillPhatCat 01-09-2007, 05:16:21 PM Older than 25 years, so 1981 and older should have only a safety inspection... $10 :D ChillPhatCat 01-09-2007, 05:22:52 PM http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/broch/c-50.htm 1WILDZ 01-09-2007, 06:03:04 PM I couldnt wait for the 25 year mark! ChillPhatCat 01-09-2007, 08:54:43 PM I love rolling up to the inspection station with emissions equipment that consists in it's entirety of an EGR valve. Nitroexpress 01-09-2007, 10:11:08 PM Were in monroe/rochester? And what year car do you have? I've got a 73 with no emissions & I have no problems getting inspected. Depending were you live I can suggest a couple places.Let me know See yah Andy engine 01-10-2007, 05:28:51 PM Older than 25 years, so 1981 and older should have only a safety inspection... $10 :D BUT, '81 has an onboard computer...It may still have to go on the dyno tester...depends on where you live. A High Enhanced emissions inspection is required for vehicles registered in the nine county New York Metropolitan Area (NYMA) of Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, Westchester, and the five counties within New York City, The purpose of this inspection is to measure the amount of hydrocarbons, oxides of nitrogen, and carbon monoxide pollutants coming from the vehicle exhaust. The High Enhanced emissions inspection includes a Simulated driving condition test (on a dynamometer) for gasoline powered vehicles, 1981 model year and newer, that weigh 8,500 pounds or fewer. An "idle emissions test" (engine at idle only) is required for gasoline powered vehicles that weigh more than 8,500 Pounds, are less than 26 model years old, and were manufactured for the 1980 model vear or- older. Monroe is in Orange county so it shouldn't matter. woody80z28 01-14-2007, 11:02:25 PM Haha, even my 95 doesnt get smog tested... and my 80 passed with open headers! Living out in the boonies is a great thing. BonzoHansen 01-15-2007, 01:21:50 AM Let's all move to walton's moutain with woody! f-body 03-08-2007, 07:32:39 PM Sorry I have to stir the pot. Just wait until we all have to comply to Californaia standards, its comming you just wait. I guess we could all swap late model engines in and retain all of our original emissions equipment that the car came with and then we would be clean and efficient. I noticed that the NY law also like in Texas does not smog diesels? Yeah like they are not the primary cause of bad air!!!! Stop blaming all the clean running hot rods and blame the black smoke generating trucks that I cannot drive behind with my windows down. I cannot even drive behind a big pickup with a diesel engine, I can smell that exhaust whenever I am around big trucks. I'll never own anything but a gas engine or truck. GetMore 03-08-2007, 08:17:41 PM Actually, NY does test diesels if you are in the NYMA area. I'm in Putnam County, so I don't have to worry about any of it, plus my brother's used to work at an emissions testing station and the current employees still know me, so I will pass easily, if needed. BTW, I like my smoke-belching diesel car: enough power (for a four-banger) and great mileage. |
