i need a new water pump for the 406 and i have no clue if it needs a short or long style..standrd or high vloume..clockwise ..w/e that means..mechanical oe elecric?..and good brand to go with..ive edelbrock victor series are pretty good but Meziere is better but almost twice as much too. :O
My 406 i going to be n/a and going in a 1991 trans am if you need to know this.

If you're reusing the stock accessories from the 91 (serpentine belt) then you need a reverse-rotation pump, long style (all serpenite setups are long style to my knowlege).
Not sure who makes a really nice aluminum high flow unit for that application becuase I've never gone looking for one. Stock parts house rebuilds have always kept my engines cool just fine. Including a rather healthy 400 in a 3rd gen.

yea im using mu stock 91 serp brackets...
so i would need a counter-clock wise pump?

Yes. I beleive Chevy refers to them as reverse-rotation pumps. Any pump designed for a 91 V8 Camaro application will be what you need. Then it's just a matter of how much you want to spend.
