Does anyone know where I can get a cut away of the SBC showing all the oil gallerys? I know I have seen one somewhere but can't find it now. I am having trouble getting oil to the Drivers side rockers on a LT1 I built.

If not you will never get pressure to the lifters as the distributor has a "gallery completion" lobe that connects the two ends of the gallery together that give you pressure to the lifters. 80'427 01-17-2005, 09:59:00 PM Yes I am use a 90 chevy dist modified to work as a primer. Now it is in the car are running. I pulled the other cover and it doesn't have oil at the rockers eather. Pulled the intake and it has oil at the lifters so I think maybe the plugs are missing from the front of the block. Damon 01-18-2005, 01:28:00 PM Do you have oil pressure? If the plugs at the front of the lifter oil galleys are missing you won't be able to build much oil pressure. 80'427 01-18-2005, 07:47:00 PM We have 35 running and 20ish cranking. I pulled the valve covers and the intake to watch and see if the lifters were getting oil. Seeping around plunger exterior. My machinest said to pull a lifter out of a hole and look down it while cranking to be sure I was getting good pressure at the lifters. I also though before pulling the front cover if I tried to run some wire down the front two galley holes to the front and felt resistance within a inch or so I could figure there was plugs in the gallerys. Any more ideas? Also going to pull the stub shaft (in the distributor hole) and feel if the cam bearing is far enough back. Will also check pressure with a mechanical gauge. Damon 01-19-2005, 10:36:00 AM Jeez, that's odd. If you got oil to the lifters you should eventually be getting it up through the pushrods and squirting out the rocker arms. Solid or hydraulic lifters? 80'427 01-19-2005, 10:53:00 AM Hyd roller Factory |
