today at work i was talking to my manager about what carb i should use for my new engine and i said that i wanted a 750 double pumper. he said to stay away from holley because their new carbs have a lot of problems. he said that the center gaskets always leak and after you replace them, the start leaking again rite away. i havent heard this from any one else but i would think he would know because he deals with all the returns and recalls on parts. whats every one else think about holley carbs?
thanks, jeremy

I bet most people that return carbs didn't know what they were doing and either had the wrong carb for thier application or an existing engine problem that they thought was the carb so they replaced the carb and it still didn't fix thier problem, many people say bad things about holleys but i think its the best designed carb ever its so easy to tune for specific requirements. Its also very easy for someone who just starts
changing parts and turning screws to get one way off!
People will tell the guy behind the counter it was squirting gas out the side if it gets them thier $400 bucks back that they just invested into a carb that didn't fix thier problem and i would imagine ther are alot of people that just go buy one thinking problems will be solved and then have to come up with an excuse to return it?

Well said Mike! Holleys are fine carbs. I don't like the stock gaskets however. They shrink if you let the car sit over a period of time and allow internal leaks. I'd replace them right away with the non stick blue gaskets then you would have many miles of trouble free driving.

Barry Grant Demon carbs are a great value also, but they don't really clean them before assembly and you usually have to take them apart to clean out the machining chips. Otherwise they are great.

My fav is a reworked Qjet, but that's not what this topic is about http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif

The 3310's come with them also. Even Holley's reman carbs come with the blue gaskets now.
