I have a 78 camaro that has to pass smog, but I want more power out of it. Is this a decent cam that will give me good street manners and power. It has to be smog legal and I am hoping to keep the stock stall converter.

That looks like a good stock-replacement cam. It should work well in your application, and I wouldn't worry one iota about it passing smog.

Good choice.

try the crane energizer 272 cam 272 dur. 454 lift. shows strong low to mid range torque for daily driving, good idle 1800-5400rpm range 8.7-10.0 compression.
had this cam in another motor and it really woke it up and is a smog legal cam

Imho, I would use Crane's 266/210/266/210, 110/105, .440"/.440" Energizer b/c if your motor is stock, you compression ratio sucks..

The motor I have in my 78 is actually out of a 84 van or truck, not exactly sure. I know my compression blows, but im 16 and not exactly rolling in money. I just want enough power to put me back in my seat and roast em off if I want to. I also wanted to run this by yall, I have and oppertunity to get a 454 smogger out of like a 85 something(not sure) What kind of power do these motors make and what can I do to wake up these motors and keep it Cali legal?
Thanks Travis

Your cam choice is fine but I agree with pdq67 or musclcar, their cam choice is better. I ran a similar cam(comp cam 260H)in a 78 camaro with a 305ci, passed smog easy when I lived in Delaware(tough state.) And I'm here to tell you when I got on it from a standing start she'd bark the tire but what was really cool is when the old automatic hit second at 4200RPM she'd chirp 'em in to 2nd!

In a 350 you can go upwards of 220 @ .050 and pass smog. But to be safe, I'm a big fan of the Energizer 272. If you want a tad better idle then I'd shoot for the Powermax 266 or 272. They use a wider lobe separation for better vacuum, idle, and more off the line punch. The 266 is capable of low 13's if you can match it up with good heads also.

Im liking the 272 cam 78LT, and I can get it for like 130 with lifters. Can I keep my stock stall with this cam and do I need new valve springs?
Also what heads would be a good purchase if I decide to go that route? I dont want anything to pricey.
Thanks Travis
