Which gaskets should I use for my edlebrock torker 2 intake? I have the felpro blue ones but when I did a search I found not to use those on an aluminum intake. Also is 30lbs ft good for torque?

As for the gaskets, I just asked for a set for a '69 Z28 (302ci) for my engine. I use a Torker intake, and the gaskets for the 302" engine fit the ports perfectly. I dunno if they are different from any other sbc gaskets though. 1981coupe400ci 01-16-2005, 10:57:00 PM i usually only go 15 maybe 20 maybe 25ftlbs MAX on an aluminum intake night rider 01-17-2005, 01:33:00 AM I like the Napa red gaskets (made by victor) about $8, comes as a kit with the two intake side gaskets, rubber end seals, dist. gasket and a package of alum RTV sealer. I throw away the rubber end seals, and use the alum RTV to seal the ends. 20 ft lbs sounds good on the torque, but it's not like you really can fit a torque wrench to all the bolts (center 4) anyways. Oh yeah, tighten the bolts in a criss cross way. start with the front center, then rear center on the other side, then the very front end, then the very rear end on the other side, etc etc etc Z28 4 speed 01-17-2005, 06:36:00 AM I'll check out those Napa ones. Why did you not use the end seals? badazz81z28 01-17-2005, 12:59:00 PM <font face="Arial,Verdana" size="2">Originally posted by Z28 4 speed: Which gaskets should I use for my edlebrock torker 2 intake? They tend to try to slip out of place, not press down good, etc I feel A good bead of RTV is better, wont slip out of place, get sucked in, and will seal better. badazz81z28... The thing with the fel pro blues and alum intakes is the gasket is too stiff, too much metal in the gasket, and the lighter weight alum intake just cant push as hard against them and seal up. I went through that about 6 or 7 years ago. Took me close to 2 mo. to figure out what was wrong. The fel=pros just wouldnt seal with my alum intake. I went to the Napa reds, and aint looked back. Every engine I build with an alum intake, gets the Napa reds, and no leaks, no probs Z28 4 speed 01-17-2005, 04:04:00 PM I got Napa gaskets today. Are they supposed to be red? The ones I got are black and they are made by Victor. What if I use the rubber end seals and RTV together? badazz81z28 01-17-2005, 04:18:00 PM Wow.. Is this a common thing with the felpros? Thats what I just threw on. its a BBC though. Are you all experienceing this with SBC? I didnt use the rubber ends. just a thick bead of Super Black RTV [This message has been edited by badazz81z28 (edited January 17, 2005).] Bumpstick71 01-17-2005, 06:30:00 PM I've used the Fel-Pro blues and never had a problem . Maybe I'm just lucky. ------------------ If all else fails...Tap lightly with a 5lb hammer! They work great. night rider 01-18-2005, 01:36:00 AM The Napa black ones are the same as the red ones. The reds are made in Mexico and blacks are made here in the USA. Same gasket, both made by victor renz. I wouldnt use the rubber end seals at all. Thats just me though. I bead of RTV IMO is much better HEAVYchev 01-18-2005, 08:01:00 PM count me in as having bad luck with the Fel-Pros. I have good luck with the MrGasket paper gaskets and a little shellac. edz28 01-18-2005, 08:29:00 PM i used the black fel- pro for aluminum intakes ithey have rtv sealer on them and the end seals are sticky and well not move the part # is 1296 they are $20.00 dollars but work well Bondo79 01-18-2005, 08:50:00 PM The felpro #1205 gasket has worked fine for me twice. ------------------ 350: 10:1/Sportsman II/XE274/performer RPM intake/eddy 750/1 5/8 headers/11" 2500 stall/TH-350/ 3.73 locker |
