I'm putting in a ZZ454 and was thinking about replacing my heater core while I'm replacing my whole interior....might as well.

But when I did a search, I'm seeing different ones for SBC and BBC cars. Obviously my year (78) didn't come with a BBC option, so will this create any problems??

Is there a benefit to get an AC Heater Core if I don't have AC or is there no difference ???

If you get a A/C core for a Non A/C car it will NOT fit.

There is no different heater core for a BBC in a 2nd generation camaro, only the first generation camaros had a different heater core for SBC and BBC, but there is a difference between A/C and non A/C in the 2nd genaeration camaro heater core.
If you don't have A/C, the A/C heater core won't fit. A/C heater cores are also more difficult to change. Replace with exactly what you have and you won't have a problem.

How the hell would I know which it is ???
I would assume ALL these cars came with AC....no??

I'm probably going to have to rip it out, take it to the store to figure out which I actually have then.....damn. Is there a way to tell by VIN or visual ??

You don't know if your car has air conditioning???
Not all 2nd generation camaros came with A/C, thats why there is 2 different heater cores, one for an A/C car and one for a car without A/C.
Yes, you can tell an A/C car by looking at it, does it have an A/C compressor mounted and driven by a belt on the engine? Does it have a condensor (looks like a small rad) sitting in front of your radiator? On the switch panel is there a slot for A/C?

Yep look for the big fiberglass box on the pass side firewall. If its there you have A/C.

Ace, the easiest way to tell if the car has an A/C core is to look at the location of the inlet/outlet tubes. An A/C car has them up under the fender. A factory NON-A/C car has them out in the open on the firewall where they can be easily accessed. If your car is missing the big fiberglass suitcase on the passenger side of the car then you likely don't have A/C or it was removed by a previous owner.
