I am new to this board and camaros in general, so if i posted this in the wrong spot please let me know. I have just bought a 1977 camaro with a perfect body, problem is that it has a stock straight 6 and a 3 speed tranny. What I would like to know is what trouble i may run into swapping this out for a 350 or a 327 with preferable a 4 speed tranny (not sure if i could get a 5 speed?) and would also like to do the rear end out to posi as well. The camaro has always been one of my wants and now maybe i can make it happen here. any help would be appreciated.

the engine swap should be a direct bolt up , of course youll need different exhaust, Im not sure if that bell housing bolts right up or not?

This swap is not that hard and can be done rather easy.

I did it once in a chevy truck but we ripped out 6cyc 3spd man, and dropped in 350v8/350thm

Just like Mwilson, I did it in a 65 chevy truck. On that one the motor mounts were 2 piece and when you removed the 6 cyl engine and took off the little pillars, you were left with...the motor mounts for the small block v-8! Doesn't get easier than that. Can't say if your Camaro is that easy but as has been noted its a generally easy swap.
I had hopped up the 327 a bit so I had higher HP by at least double the six and I didn't need a bigger rad on that one. Certainly there has to be a limit tho and with enough HP from the 8 you'll have to consider the rad. Springs weren't a problem going 6 to a small block but would be if you tried a big block. Starter, distributor, guage senders and alternator connections were the same or an easy swap. The carb wasn't hard to convert at all. I had never done it before then and I was about 20. Go for it...it's pretty hard to get wrong!
