I just put in a new 383 in my camaro-it has about 450 hp/450 ft/lbs tq, and is pretty streetable-i've put almost 700 miles on it since i put it in, and it runs great. i just changed the oil, cut up the oil filter, no shavings, so everything must be pretty good inside(knock on wood)-i've got to run to texoma tomorrow, about a 2 hour trip from here, and was wanting to take the camaro out for its first long run. is there any reason why i shouldn't take it? it'll be going for about 4-5 hours tops of close to no stop driving? it runs at about 2500 rpms at 70 (pegleg 2.73's, i know i know, rear end is the next step). It runs around 180* in town so i shouldn't have to worry about overheating i assume (again, knock on wood)-anyone see any reason why i shouldnt take it, or if you would or not? thanks alot

I say go for it. Be confident in the fact that you put it together and you did it right. Wish I could take my car for a long ride, but no OD+4.10s=really high rpms above 45mph. Have fun.

Setup similar to mine it looks like but i have the 3.73s. Drive it and enjoy. Use the nice torque for passing.:)
