My 1970 Coupe is equipped with a 350 2bbl carb set-up. I am ready to upgrade to a 4bbl carb.

I've got a hold of an original 1970 Aluminum dual-plane Intake from the Z-28 model I was planning on using, as well as the finned aluminum valve covers. I would like to replicate the look of the Z-28 engine, but since it is not a real Z-28... I don't see the need to get an originally equipped Holley carb, although I do want to replicate that classic look.

I have heard many people suggest to me to stay away from the Holley and go with Edelbrock. They say the Holley will be too tempermental and be hard to adjust and would need tuning if not driven often enough or need attention after sitting in storage all winter.

Any opinions on what carb to use? Holley 4150, 4160, Street Avenger; Edelbrock Thunder Series, performer; or Barry Grant's Demon line of carbs?

What do you have on your small blocks?

Thanks!

I would say it just depends on what you like.

apples to apples no diff carb brands will out performer other brand if both are dailed in for your engine. Max I would say is a 5 hp gain/lose with any carb vs. carb test

I like edelbrock performer 4 bbl myself. It's the same desing and really the same carb as the carter AFB.

Simple design, thats easy to tune and get dailed in, stays set. Gives good throttle responce, power and mileage when dailed in

Holley 3310 or 1850 if you want that look but you want an easy to forget about carb, and just want to enjoy the ride and pop the hood for show.

Edelbrock is a smooth running carb just doesnt have the "Manly" muscle look more of a my car looks better than it runs look,
just my opinion, Ive never tuned much with 'em but i've never had an eddy out perform a holley out of the box either.
Great running smooth carbs Id put one on the wifes car in a second

I vote for an edelbrock 1405 carb. It would be great for a stockish street 350.

I'm getting ready to buy a new carb for my 454. If I'm not mistaken, the BG demon carbs are more recently designed than the Holleys/Edelb./Carters and so I'm leaning towards a demon carb. I'm assuming newer design = better technology.
