View Full Version : Anybody Running Performer RPM cam w/ Vortec Heads? El Guapo 01-11-2005, 09:37:00 AM Anybody running this combo? I'm thinking about swithing from me XE cam to the eddie and was wondering how well it worked with the vortec heads. Dirt Reynolds 01-11-2005, 04:05:00 PM I ran a similar Crane grind with my home-ported Vortecs. Off-idle launch at the track on drag radials was 12.15/110.5. 0.060"-over 400, 3310 carb, 2800 stall and 4.10 gears. Would have ran in the 11.90's (maybe a bit quicker) with some RPM at launch. I was also over-geared with the 4.10's behind the 400 - a 3.42 would have been better, 4.10 would be better behind a 350. I liked the cam. Easy on the valvetrain and made great power. I know some guys here will jump all over this type of cam as old-school, but I got great results and would not hesitate to use one again. Here is the cam I used: Crane Blazer hydraulic PN: 4003 Grind #: Blazer 294-2H 234/244 .488"/.510" 114 LSA 109 Intake centerline Hope that is of some help. ------------------ 'Silver Bullet' 1977 Z-28 413" SB 11.73 @ 115.10 on drag radials Old Vortec combo: 12.15 @ 110.52 Mwilson 01-11-2005, 04:22:00 PM My buddy Ricky ran RPM Cam in 406 with vortec 3.42 gear he ran 11.70 / 7.40 ------------------ 350ci,14.3:1,iron heads, pump gas(87octane) and a 175 shot! 8.80 1/8 mile [This message has been edited by Mwilson (edited January 11, 2005).] Rhodyman 01-11-2005, 05:07:00 PM If you're going to change cams then why not go to a solid lifter cam?
