I just ordered a performance full-manual 4L80E from Jakeshoe and I need some opinions on shifters. It's going behind an EFI Vortec 406 and it will be seeing daily driving (hour-and-a-half highway commute to work) in the summer. Future plans for the trans include a Gear Vendors unit for a total of eight manually shifted gears. Whatever shifter I go with will be used and shifted through every day even though most of the time it will be in OD. With that in mind, what would be a comfortable, reliable, forward-pattern 4-speed shifter that has a hollow stick or some other way to run a switch to the shift knob for the GV control? I've been looking at the Hurst Quarter Stick but it seems to be a gate design and doesn't have a ratchet shift feature. Any suggestions?

Hmm, I just looked up some info on the RetroTek F1 paddle shifter. Not the same technology as the Twist Machine Shrifter but not a bad option for controlling both the trans shifts and the GV shifts when I install it. Any thoughts on it?

I'm partial to my B+M Megashifter. :)
Has the slap shifting ability 1st to 4th.
Had my 700r4 hooked up to it, now my 4L60e will be.

I break B&M shifters, only reason I have one in the car now is it came with the tranny. I do like the hurst ratchet shifters, much nicer quality.
