I personally love all kinds of FPS games. (First Person Shooters)
But this gives you the opportunity once trained, to implement teams, speak with your friends via the headsets you buy, and coordinate assaults.

It's VERY addictive once you learn to master ALL of the features.
Spend some time OFFline first learning your commands, weapons, how the game is played.
Then practice being a Squad leader (Fastest route to higher ranks and weapons)

Once you master all of that, you'll be buying a joystick to master the aircraft to assault with. ;)

I kept having to get up mid action and do work so I kept getting whacked tho :(

That's my original BF 1942 login, and I didn't remember that the "74" wasn't on the end of it. :confused: It's weird....don't ask me.

I am downloading the patch for 2142 now, and will get that installed, along with some more game play. Look for ChimpBalls to be doing some butt kicking soon!

I wanted to pull Mutiny on you cuz you weren't giving commands...thats what commanders do...is give commands. Anyways...where you send messages to people and what not in the main screen, it shows what game they are in. I just join the server you're in.

Yeah, you should have pulled it. Usually I'm VERY diligent in my Command.
I just had several outages last night plagueing my area so it required my attention.
I wouldn't have cared, I kept having to take time outs from the game. lol

I hooked up my joystick but after last nights flying escapades of twirling and crashing repeatedly
I think I need to re-calibrate it....lol

Yeah, the turrets don't move on those, the whole tank spins if moving turret is attempted.
Takes some getting used to, DEFINITELY more agile than the track tanks. :)

I wonder if there is a BF 2142 internal calibration section somewhere because my Logitech calibration looked fine.

Those robo walkers(that's what my son calls them) would definitely be easier to operate with some kind of joystick. I use both hands on the keyboard to steer them, while my son operates the guns.

Yeah, i know.. The settings were fine outside the game but needed lots of work in-game. Had to set them up in a single-player game, took a while but OMG! Never going back to flying with the keyboard again ;)

I have an older MS joy stick I bought a few years back. I may try using that. Flying is hard with the mouse and keyboard. I have been doing limited flying. Usually just to get me back to the area of fighting quickly after being killed, and then land and get back on foot. If I try being fancy, I end up too far out, and then get punished, and crash.

Just make sure you use your parachute and know which key it is.....I thought
mine was "Q" like the OLD game for quite a few plummeting deaths...lol
I'm about to give up on my joystick :(

I took Cougar and a bunch of other troops on some joyrides yesterday trying to land on a Titan, couldn't control it good enough and kept spinning....:mad:

Did some flying yesterday on BF2, i'm able to fly under the bridge by the Chinese base on the Dragon Valley map with a jet, got the chopper down aswell, hovering and landing like it's no-ones business.
Too bad GETTING to an aircraft is a battle all in it's own on most public servers..

Off to frag on the TV2-server park now ;)

I just finished a round of 2142. One of the enemy guys was an excellent pilot. I was shooting a rocket at him from the ground, and he just came right down and squashed me, and took right back off again. Had I not been killed, I would have stood up and applauded.
