My 74 camaro is a San Diego car. right now im goin to college in Anchorage Alaska and this is her first winter. been pretty cold recently and i didnt drive her for about a week went out and she wouldnt start. didt even turn over and got no click from the starter. well i went out today (she been sittin for about 3 weeks) put the battery back in and she started up fisrt try. but she is runnin really rough and the choke seems to be not workin real well. the timing is off i know for a fact and it sounds like one of the bearings for a belt is going out. can u guys give me any help on how to get the timing and choke workin well without a timing light? and do u guys have any suggestions on how to get and keep her running well through the winter?
(1974 camaro, 350 4bbl, no ac, power stearing and brakes)
any help is great! thanks

Well I guess I'd suggest a good ol tune up. Plugs, points, condenser, cap, rotor, wires. Then I'd look up all the base setting adjustments on the carb and get that back in spec.. Local bookstore would ahve a Chilton I am sure you could look through. Then I'd change the oil to a 5-30 as well as check the radiator coolant to verify it's good to -30.
I have no idea how the base choke setting is done on a 74 but I suspect it is set too loose therefore pulling off too fast.

it's got an HEI in it so theres not really any room for the points to be off, but when i drive it here from SD my EVG vavle went and was washing my 6 and 8 cylinders and fould the plugs. i replaced them but i dont know if their carboned up again. is there anybody on this sight who is from Anchorage and i can get some references from on cheap places to get the work done and places that are reliable?
any help is great
