Are all oval port heads the same? jakeshoe 01-02-2005, 12:26:00 AM No they are not the same. Peanut port refers to the very small "round" ports used on late 70-mid 90's motors. They are great for their intended usage, and can actually work well on a mild street BBC. I'm pretty sure I have peanut port heads. Now I'm concerned if I get an Edelbrock intake for oval ports, the peanut ports will be smaller than the intake's ports, leaving a 'step' which will cause restriction. I dont think there would be much a differnce in comparison. I would think a edelbrock unmatched would be better than a stocker match cast iron intake. what you all think? jakeshoe 01-03-2005, 12:02:00 PM The mismatch is not a problem. The "step" is not detrimental to performance. The larger plenum and runner volume of the oval intake will better feed the motor. pdq67 01-03-2005, 09:31:00 PM Imho, the easiest way to tell to me is if they are wider then they are tall they are PP heads! And if they are taller then they are wide, then they are large ovals! And everybody know's how big and rectangular, rect's are... And I'm not even going ta get inta the "ROVAL" deal that's like a 2/3rds tall, rect port... pdq67 |
