Hello,
anyone here with experience on powdercoating the headers? I would like to know if the paint will resist the high temperatures, without chopping off.
Thanks

I had our Hooker Super Comp hedders powder coated black. Havnen't had the S10 fired up yet as we lack wiring, cooling and fuel system from lack of $$$$ and not feeling well. Will let you know of our persoanl experience when it happens. I asked the our friend that did them if he had any feedback on it and he said that they had no complaints.

Everyplace I've talked to says just the opposite. The powder coating can't withstand the heat generated. I even called GoodRich Technologies (they do the euroshine coating on Edelbrocks intakes) and asked about putting it on my exhaust cutouts, and they wouldn't even recommend it that far down the stream.

The painted blak headers usually burn off the paint to a flat black or dark grey within an hour of driving, sometimes much faster

If they were truly powdercoated you might as well have them stripped and re-done in an exhaust coating now. It will make a big mess. Figure that podercoating is baked at 400-450 degrees to melt the powder, and that exhaust gets over 1000 degrees.............. well, you get the picture.
Now many powdercoat shops do exhaust coatings, so you may have an exhaust coating already; check with your shop that did the work.

You need to looks for a shop that does Ceremic coating. JetHot is a brandname so is HTC, but they are basically the same thing.
They can do Ceremic coating is flat black which some people mistake to powdercoat

I see a lot of confusion lately between powder coating and ceramic coating. Both have been becoming increasingly popular.

The place that did our hedders does military contracts and has a special high temp powder coating that they use on exhaust systems. Time will tell.
BTY, they did them for free so I can't beat the price.
