Will seat back panels attach to zipper back upholstery seats for a 79 z28??
I have the rounded top seats.
I want a velour seat upholstery and Cassic is the only one who has them but
they do not come as a zipper back so I would have to purchease seat back panels.
Just want to know if they would fit the seats
ANy pics of a seat back panel upholstery would be great

I will get you a pic of my 78 seats tomorrow. They are getting the cloth / vinyl covers with the seat backs.
I will take a pic with the backs off so you can see if there is any difference with your 79 seats.

I've got the same issue with my 77. According to Classic, the 77's weren't even supposed to have zipper backs. :screwup: my seats have the metal strips in the back, so I'm assuming that the panels will fit as well. Looking forward to see where this thread goes with answers.

They will fit on the zipper backs. I've got the same issue w/ my 77 Z. I bought a set of seats out of a 79 Z with the zipper backs. I've got a set of plastic back covers to go one there after I put the original 77 Z seat covers on.

I have an 80 - with the original seats... zipper back style. But I can feel the rectangular frame in the back to screw a plastic backing on it if I wanted to.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem.
I thought it would be pretty simple purchasing seat covers but it seems to have become a bit of a research project before I go spend the $$.
Has anyone used the Classic 71-79 Velour Seat Upholstery (part # starts with KV)??
I have the original camel tan fabric interior with a basket weave design but obviously its not reproduced and I really dont want to go with vinyl.
Classic does offer a velour/vinyl seat for my year but I need some input or pics of anyone whos used or seen it.

The only thing that I can see being different is the part that is screwed on the top of the metal frame. The seat backs slip onto this part and are held on by two screws on the side of the panel (you can see the screw holes about half way down toward the sides)

EDIT; My seat have the squared off top also, not the rounded top

The backs have been off the seats since I got the car 1 1/2 years ago :rolleyes:
Now they are sitting in my attic/ storage room for the last 6 months waiting to get recovered..

They MIGHT get done by March......;)
