i know the seats are easy to do, my question is on the console/dash/door panels

if you put the dash and console both from a 4th gen in they would line up good right? ive heard putting in the dash is a pain in the ass but fabbing is fun...

What about the door panels? are they easy to do? i did a search and the only good info was that the seats are easy and dash is hard...the rest of them were people just saying to do a search http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif

thanks for any help

The seats are no problem and the console wouldnt be too hard but the dash and door panels are probably damn near impossible. The dash is way deeper than a 2nd gen dash and probably a bit too narrow. The door panels are shaped completly different. You would probably have any easier time fabbing up a complete custom interior than tring to make the 4th gean pieces fit well. You might be able to get them in there some how but I think your going to have a lot of spaces and gaps etc.

I've seen it before somewhere, a second gen with 4th gen dash and door panels. Looked very cool, but I still can't comprehend how in the hell it was done. Involve alot of custom fab work.

I would imagine that it was probably a custom job made to look like the 4th gen parts. It would take MAJOR modification to make the actual 4th gen parts fit.

i know that was done by callaway so it may be a lot of custom work...

i wouldnt mind fabbing up door panels myself...what i want to do tho is get the armrests/power door lock kinda setup off of a 4th gen that has the monsoon speaker system with component speaker housings...that would look trick i think.

Just a little help....If you didn't already know, the seatbelts out of the donor will fit right in place of the originals.

Those are the exact same seats I bought for my car. I am keeping the stock rear seats though.

MayHem 74,

Did you ever make any progress on the 4th Gen Dash in your 2nd Gen? Door Panels would be nice too, but the Dash and Center console are what I want to tackle first.

I have an '02 SS and a '71 SS, and it seems, that while the '02 Dash is much deeper, if seperated from the Metal Panel directly at the base of the windshield, the Dash becomes approximately the right size.

Any suggestions/help in this matter would be greatly appreciated! I am no stranger to the automobile, and have a full shop setup in my garage with all of the tools from my 1st career of Auto Technician! Just want to explore all possibilities and experiences before sinking the bucks into the 4th gen dashboard.

Thanks
