I’ve come across references to C5 brake conversions in different threads here but I haven’t had any luck finding any guides (the forum search ignores “C5” because its only 2 characters long).

Can anyone point me to any links that give more details on this? Or experiences with the conversion/performance or alternatives?

Personaly I wouldn't want "corvette" on my camaro. go to summit racing.com and check out the wilwood kit#
WIL-140-8582D
With this set up you will need 16" or larger rims and it involves the same mods to the stock spindles as the c5.

Goto www.pro-touring.com and register with that forum and you'll find a TON of assistance on this topic.

I was inquiring about the same not long ago, and that forum has MANY more peeps who believe in updating your car with modern technology.

Some guys here do it, but it's more informative over there I found. ;) I'm sure you'll find a few threads to peruse if you do a search.

Where you at in Illinois ?? Close to Chitown ??

Schaumburg. 20 miles west of Chicago's Loop. ;)
There's a few peeps here that are local.

My boy who owns a bar in Batavia just moved there too.
Too far for me to hike tho. lol

I actually just finished the C5 brake swap today and took it out for a test drive, it's excellent.

I used the brackets from: http://www.kore3.com/

Any questions let me know!

Give us the link.
I'd like to check that out myself, but I'm sure the price is probably double.

C6 Z06 would be very cool, but really expensive. Plus I think you might have to get 18" or more wheels. I like my C5 brake swap, it hauls the car down no problems.

Try triple. I think the brakes go for around 1200 for the set. I'm not sure if that even includes the rotors. Then you'd need the modified spindles, hubs, and brackets. And then I've heard of people having trouble with pad wear. But it does look cool.....

Thanks guys, lots of good info to get me started on a plan. I'll check out www.pro-touring.com, Aces. I live in Jerseyville which is about 30 miles north of St. Louis.

An alternative solution (http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&Ntt=WIL%2D140%2D8582D&searchinresults=false&N=+115&y=10&x=34), thanks

Thanks, checking out kore3.com looks like they have everything needed. A rear disk conversion (http://www.kore3.com/proddetail.php?prod=10107) caught my eye there too, but thats another topic...

This sounds interesting but I'm guessing it would cost more than I'm willing to pay. ;)

I thought that would be good also ,but after browsing corvetteforum.com ,all I saw were complaints. Most said it was no better than a wilwood or stock c5 setup, definitely not worth the $1200 or so in parts.

with more links inside, very heavy set up.Alternatives are listed also from stoptech and wilwood.

I also did the C5 rear disk conversion too, it looks great having disks in the rear. Not to mention they perform better than drums.
