Does anyone know if the stock shifter will work with the 700 r4 transmission. My 74 Z28 now has ZZ430 replica and a turbo 350 tranny with 3.73 gears. I was concerned that the stock shifter would not work right. Let me know.

They make a kit that you use with your horseshoe style shifter that has all of the detents for the 700R4 and it comes with a new gear selector plate with all the gears shown on it.(PRND321)

Thanks John for the info but I have the rachet style shifter. Do they make a kit for it also?

You can deal with shiftworks directly and save some money. They are exceptional people to deal with.

I have one of the Shiftworks kits in my 80 Camaro for a 200-4R. This is the same shift detent pattern as the 700R4 and it works real good. You get a different cable bracket for the tranny too.
My only complaint was the indicator lettering. Mine is an 80 and the indicator letters are on the shift plate. Yours are on the dash so I don't know what they supply for you for the indicator letters.
