I have a stupid question
On my car door openings on the weather strip track is this little thing which sticks out...about 1 inch made of metal???? Does this thing serve any purpose? Can I just cut it off?? mine is rusted and looks like crap... My body guy says he didnt think it did anything???
Does anyone know what i am talking about???LOL

All GM cars (non convertibles) that have no attached window surround on the door have those.
It's supposed to have a plastic tab covering it, or on some older cars, a rubber coating. This usually falls off and you're left with a rusty metal tab that looks ugly.
You'll want to keep this though.. you can usually coat it in the same stuff that people use to coat plier and screw driver handles, or you can pull one of the plastic tabs off an 80s GM car (like a Fiero).
