Whenever I put a 20a fuse in the "tail lamp" slot of the fuse panel, as soon as i pull the light switch on, the fuse blows.

I still have the passenger side head light, and all turnsignals work, but I have no taillights, no parking lights and no dash-board lights. I have traced the wires and found nothing frayed (that i can see, anyway) except the driver side headlight connector looks shot.

I took out the lightswitch, it too seems okay.

Other than only drive during the day, does anyone have any ideas.

All suggestions appreciated.

what type fuse panel do you have the new spade kind or the old cylinder types? I iknow with mine i can disconnect the tail lights wire harness from the fuse block so if you can do that do it and try it again if it still pops you know the problem is dash forward.

i would say if you have a screwed up plug for the one head light i would start there, i would pull the switch to the park lights position and see if it pops in that position, if not then i would say its that connecter and the only way to really isolate that is cut it off leave some wire though so you can reuse it if you want to.

if you want to troubleshoot the connector its self take a multimeter and put it on ohms and read the pins to one another and if it reads anything other than open than thats your problem.

Which sockets are you referring to? The fuse box or the lights?

another problem you might incounter is the wires going to the light mght be grounding out. as soon as you put power to it and it grounds out in the wire you will get a fuse popping every time. Just something else that might cause it. If you do find that the problem is forward of the fuse box, check your wires to be sure they are in good shape, and no broken at any point.
