i have a question regarding interior dye. i did a search and it seems that SEM is the product to go with. My only problem is that i had already started with some oem uerathane paint for my dash. it turned out great and i followed the insturctions for a change(wash and scrub, then rinse rinse and rinse again. then primer and finally paint).
my question is will the rear panels and sail panesl be ok if i use a similar product. it is bumper black spray uerathane. i started and it looks good. the paint is made by Mar-Hyde. it seems to stick and i am pleased with the outcome. however if one of you knows something i dont, it is easiest now to start over before i get to door panels, and console and the pieces under the dash. thanks any and all help would be appreciated. lemanster

I donno. If your pleased with results and it lasts. I canged the interior on my 78 with SEM. The guys I bought it from told me to place several light coats and let dry between them. The parts I done this with are great. Being impaient I done a few parts with less coats (1-2)and it scratches off pretty easy.

I painted a lot of faded interior parts on my car. I used the SEM stuff, and used the recommended pre dye coat that "melts" the plastic a little to make the top coat hold better. I got it from Year One.

Painted my headliner with SEM- came out very nice. But for my money I like Dupli Color Interior Dye. Used black on my dash and its a very fine, professional looking finish.

I am currently painting all of my interior with the new Krylon fusion paint. So far it is turning out awesome. It is very easy to use with minimal prep work required. I am putting about four to five coats on each piece just to be sure. Before I started I painted a plastic piece from an old cutlass and tried to get the stuff to scratch off and I couldn't. Krylon says that the paint will bond to all plastics, vinyal, metal, and wood. The only down fall is that they only offer 8 or so different colors so not much ability to match the stock color. Overall I am very pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone.
