Is there an aftermarket K-member that will fit into a 2nd gen, hold an LS1, and offer coil over perches for suspension?

no k member on a 2nd gen. it's a complete subframe. you can get aftermarket subframes from various manufacturers. try a search here or over on pro-touring.com

You have 2 options.

You can get the motor mounts from Street and Performance www.hotrodlane.cc

or

You can get the Trans Dapt motor mounts from www.jegs.com part # 969-4592

......or you can fab your own. The A/C is the ONLY part that won't fit without modifying the K-member. I'm ditchin mine.

Well...he does have other options...like an aftermarket subframe with motor mounts set for the LS1 engine.....but that's a $3000+ options...and the more goodies on it, the higher towards the $7000 range you'll run with coil over shocks and C-4 or better control arms and C-5 or better sized brakes.

Money is the only hurdle....:D

Dose anyone out there still offer second gen Camaro subframes? I though Waybe Due was the last one and I thought I heard he quit making them. Also anybody else that says they have them really don't. This is more of a question but, who's left?

I believe Martz still makes them....and this one new guy, but he's charging $$$$$ for them,....

do the Street and Performance or Trans Dapt mounts put the engine in the original position? In other words will I have any issues with the trans not being in the same place or needing a longer or shorter drive shaft? That kind of stuff. Also with these mounts can I use an unmodified oil pan, and which one?? Thanks, Chris:confused:

A regular F-body pan will work in a 2nd gen. You'll have at least an inch of clearance. I made sure I verified that. UNLESS you want to set the engine back a few inches for better weight distribution......but I didn't care.

Trans Dapt mounts work just fine, I spoke with a guy who installed them in his 1978 over on Ls1tech.com> Do a search in the "Conversions section" and you'll find some of the threads.

Odds are you will most likely need to shorten your driveshaft no matter what. But you won't know for sure what exact measurements until you get it in. FYI, I pulled my TH350 and slapped in a 700R4 and my driveshaft had to be shortened 3 inches and rebalanced. HOWEVER.......a stock driveshaft has been shown to be "iffy" with the power of an LS1. Consider the power differences from the stock engine to the LS1. ;) I'm just buying a new one.
One guy, buddy of Primates twisted his up on the highway in his Delta 88 conversion. Chewed it right up and almost destroyed his trans.
