Lets see those Guage pods.

Give me some pics of your custom gauges.

I'm looking to down the road build up a new gauge pod for my maro due to the engine/tranny swap, and I want to see some ideas.

I dont know if I want the gauges to be digital or mechanical. Post some let me decide :P.

Also I would absolutly love to had a red luminated numbers in a mechanical gauge like pontiacs are now, I just haven't seen them around.

Whoops, i almost forgot. WHen you post pics also post price, brand, and extra equipment.

Thanks guys!

heres mine, i havent installed it yet though,

Covan Classics simulated carbon fibre dash - $149.
* i know most people dont like it cause its kinda thin but after putting the gauges in it seemed to stiffen up alot more.

Gauges are autometer ultra light the 4 smaller gauges cost between $35.-$50 bucks and I think the speedo and tach were $89-$99

I purchased some primary wire from radio shack (red, black, and green), some molex connectors, ring terminals and spade clips (female) all that stuff probably ran me about $25-$30 bucks.

All is left is for me to drill and install some turn signals.

Sorry the night pic is blurry - it's hard to hand hold the camera at the slow shutter speed.

Auto Meter Cobalt gauges - around $1,000 from Summit, miscellaneous leds, wire connectors, wire loom - around $30 from Radia Shack, mounted in the stock bezel - about $125 from Classic Industries.

Here's the write up on how it was done - complete with pictures -

How hard was it to mount the dash? it looks as if the metal part of the dash was removed? Also are you using late model door panels as well?

Sorry about hi-jack'ing this thread.

It was simple to mount the dash. and yes all of the metal portion of the old dash had to be removed. i think it took me about 2 hours to remove the old dash and get the new one in place. the only thing that i have to do now is wire it up, and i will be starting that next weekend.Oh ya, i did not use the door panels. i could not find a set at a good price. every one who is selling them wants more then i paid for my dash for the. if i can find a set of firebird panels at a good price im going to tear them apart and make som custom door panels. you cant use them on our cars because the shape is way off.

I'm also looking to do this swap in later, maybe the up comming fall. The dash and console can fit pretty nicely. But I've never seen the Door panels done. Are the insides of the door panels about the same dementions?

the door panels are way off. the only thing that you can do is take the door pulls/arm rests off and mold them into a new panel. if you decide to do this, i would suggest that you go with a set of firebird panels because they look much better than the camaro ones. im still looking for a set at a good price because that is what im going to do. if you need any help or have any questions on anything just shoot me a msg and i will be glad to help.
