i have finally got around to doing the wiring on my camaro dash swap and i need some help. i have swapped a dash out of a 4th gen firebird into my 79 camaro, but it has a cluster out of a v6. im wondering if it would be possible to run a resistor in line from my original tach wire in to the new cluster so that the v6 cluster will read correctly. im sure it would be easier to just swap the cluster out for a v8 cluster, but i don't have the funds to do this. any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could try putting a resistor in-line and see what it does. I don't think it will hurt anything if it doesn't work right.

I swapped a V8 into an engine bay once occupied by a V6 and eventually got around to swapping an entire V8 cluster into mine. (I did some research a number of years ago and found out you CAN change a resistor INSIDE the tach to do it right but I never actually did it myself. Sorry.)
