How do you make brushed alluminum? I've been thinking of doing this for my dash bezel. I don't want a plain metal look,I like the brushed look. How can I achieve it?

They stock brushed aluminum sheets that you can use as an overlay. ------------------ There is a fine line between hobby and obsession! 69 SS 350 4 Speed World Wide Camaro Association (http://65.18.159.167/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=58) 75 400 4 Speed World Wide Camaro Association (http://65.18.159.167/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=59) 93 Z28 6 Speed craggar 11-18-2003, 03:45:00 PM I use red scotch brite to take out scratches then grey to get the look I want.It works great,I have my engine compartment done in aluminum as well and it is easier to keep clean then polished I find. http://hobbystage.net/camaro/media.cgi?site=craggar&folder=*&group=1&page=*&id=1029938393-000825 Mountaineer 11-19-2003, 08:05:00 AM I did the center section of my dash where the A/C vents are (were) in AUto Meter gauges and aluminum, I just used sandpaper to make it looked brushed, then shot clear over that. ------------------ Strange81Z 11-19-2003, 01:55:00 PM Cragger, Do you have some more pics of your engine compartment? Or did you do it. They are pretty sharp. I would love to have a set like that for my 75. ------------------ There is a fine line between hobby and obsession! 69 SS 350 4 Speed World Wide Camaro Association (http://65.18.159.167/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=58) 75 400 4 Speed World Wide Camaro Association (http://65.18.159.167/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=59) 93 Z28 6 Speed craggar 11-20-2003, 03:01:00 PM Tks guys, all the pictures I have online are where the camera icon takes you.My hi tech $50. digitial camera packed it in some time ago and I've been too lazy to scan any. When I finish off my Vega I'll be doing some work on the Camaro and can take some pictures with them out of the car if you want to see what they look like. 75 400 4 speed,I had a friend who builds chasis's help me with it,he has a beader which is how the bowties got put in.The rest is pretty simple, just make a cardboard template first. The firewall is a pita with the wiper motor and the shape which is why I haven't done a piece for the drivers side yet. The nice part about it is it all comes out in a couple minutes so that I can work on the engine without wrecking the inner fenders. |
