Hey guys,
I have installed an aftermarket wiring harness in my Camaro. I am wanting to add power windows. The harness comes with a fused power supply for the power windows, but no relays.
Can someone give me some suggestions on how to wire this up.
I do not know which relays I need or how they wire to the window switch. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Marty

Some power windows wll require relays, others will not. It depends on the design.
If you are ever thinking of adding a soft touch or one touch feature like on some of the late model cars power window systems I would run wires from the window motors into the interior of the car and if the window switches are in the doors, run those wires also into the interior. Most factory one touch or auto down only do one window and do it one way (drivers window auto down only) while the aftermarket systems turn all of the switches into a one touch down AND up. They can also be interfaced into security systems to where when the system is armed it rolls the window or windows up automatically.
Depending on the design I would also ground the system inside the car and not in the doors.
If you are getting an aftermarket power window system, get one that is designed for the older thicker and heavier glass. Most cheap systems are designed to work with the newer and thinner window glass.

power windows are relayless.
The switches handle the current flow.
Electric-life windows are about $360 dealer price
GM switches with wiring is $160 dealer price
You can buy just the dual switch fo console mount at $30, and wire it yourself.

.
i paid 235 from summit for the electric life then another 40 for switches and there harness. then you just power up there harness. electric life elec windows rock. they come with new regulators and motors. nothing like putting all new pieces in the door.
